Вопрос возник у ребёнка при прочтении книги Оскара Уайльда "Кентервильское приведение".
Везде в тексте написано "Canterville Chase", что на русский (серия Билингва) переводится как "Кентервильский замок". Но они учили в школе, что замок - это "castle" по-английски. Она спросила меня: "Почему так?"
Я ответила, что Chase - это, видимо, охотничий замок.
Кто-нибудь из знающих (я к их числу не отношусь) сможет ответить, права я или нет в своём ответе?

Ну одно из значений chase - охотничье поместье. Так что возможны варианты перевода.

Я так понимаю, что это замок не как строение, а как территория /владения, одним привычным словом (вроде) на русский не переведешь.
